About the albums:

The two volumes belong to recordings in the archive of the pianist Ernesto Jodos and were made at very different stages of his career.

The first volume is a session recorded in New York City, with his friend and American double bassist Matt Pavolka, whom he met in 1991 while the two were students at Berklee. Despite the distance, they kept making music together whenever they could. Drummer Jeff Hirschfield was a timely choice for this recording, with his extensive credentials as a drummer for Fred Hersch, Paul Bley, and many other great musicians. The addition of saxophonist Donny McCaslin gives the trio a different color, and offers it another level of intensity. Interestingly, Jodos (then 16 years old) first heard McCaslin in 1989, when the saxophonist traveled to Argentina to play with Gary Burton's group.

The original music for Jodos was written especially for this session, with these musicians in mind. In addition, the repertoire is complemented with compositions by two Argentine musicians (old associates of the pianist), and two standards that emerged during the session.

The second volume finds the regular trio of Jodos from those years with whom she released an album in 2007, completely dedicated to the music of Lennie Tristano and her closest associates. The trio traveled to Umbria Jazz in Italy two years later to present that album. In any case, the group was already in another stage: making original music, and opening the concept when it came to playing music from the most traditional repertoire.

Two days after that tour, the trio entered the studio to record the result of 3 years of working together.

Ernesto Jodos is a very active figure in the South American Jazz scene and has made concerts and recordings with several of the most important figures on the continent. He has also played several times in different cities in Europe, the United States, China, Central, and South America.
He appears in more than 40 recordings, 11 of them as leader or co-leader, and he has been the chosen pianist to be part of the groups of various musicians on their trips to Argentina: Barry Altschul, Charles Tolliver, John Hebert, Bily Harper, Mark Helias, Tim Berne, and John Hollenbeck, Ben Goldberg, William Parker, Ralph Alessi, Antonio Hart, and Tony Malaby, among others.

His music is clearly framed within the Jazz tradition, using improvisation as the most important element, but it is also influenced by classical music and Argentine music (both "academic" and "popular").
Ernesto Jodos has received numerous awards: Jazz Revelation (Clarín Awards 2002), Jazz Figure of the Year (Clarín Awards 2004), Jazz Soloist of the decade 1995-2005 (Konex Foundation), Gardel Award for Best Jazz Album of the year (AADI-Capif, 2008 and 2009) and the 2nd Prize of the Contest "Unpublished popular music" of the National Endowment for the Arts (2017).

He was also the creator and current Coordinator of the Jazz Career Track of the "Manuel de Falla Superior Music Conservatory", the most important public conservatory in the City of Buenos Aires.
